Midland FRS Handhelds. A nice tiny rechargeable option for families.

These have been out for a few years now, and they have a proven place in most families homes. They work, they are simple to operate, and they have decent range with no fuss.
We use ours for work here on the homestead, and since they sit in a cradle when not in use, they are always ready when needed.
