Jesse Elder: Birth, Death, and The Adventure in the Present

I had the honor to sit down with an amazing adventurer today. We spoke about life, death, and the adventure between, among so many things.

Jesse opened my eyes to a new facet of personal growth, where he had been raised to find his own truth in the world. To have parents who wanted him to experience life as opposed to telling him how to live it. Gain respect and responsibility by proving that you’re worthy of that responsibility. It really resonated with me.

He also spoke about his encounter with the real world and how it contrasted with what he had learned intellectually. For those who have been following me for a while, you’ll know that I have a thorn in my side when it comes to “overweight certified fitness coaches” – people who have read a book and now feel like they’re in a position to teach this to others. It simply does not work in many situations, because without the actual experience of a situation, you’ll be proclaiming half-truths.

Jesse is real in this sense, where he would much rather go about life and find out what’s useful, not just good to know.
