Grace and Law in the 'Old testament' The law was required and even though David received Grace, (he was allowed to live) there was still dire consequences for his sin. Some suggest there is no word for 'Law' in the bible, whilst this is true Torah means the Law. Further many earthly Kings boast of their achievements but not many write down their sins and mistakes. King David had commanded the prophet Nathan to write down all he did, but also did not omit his sins which is in itself a sign of knowing God sees all and that others should learn this
