This mantra has its origin in India and from there it went to Tibet.

Tibetans were unable to chant it in the same way, changing its pronunciation to: OM MANI PEME HUNG and this is the most used mantra by Tibetan Buddhists.

Anyone can sing it.

The mantra OM MANI PADME HUM is easy to pronounce and powerful as it contains the essence of all Buddhist teachings.

According to the Dalai Lama, the purpose of reciting this mantra is to transform the impure body of your words and mind into the pure and praised body, speech and mind of a Buddha.

OM - The first syllable, reciting it blesses you to reach perfection in the practice of generosity.
MA - Helps to perfect the practice of pure ethics.
NI - Helps to reach perfection in the practice of tolerance and patience.
PAD - Helps to achieve perfection in the practice of perseverance.
ME - Helps to achieve perfection in the practice of concentration.
HUM - Helps in achieving perfection in the practice of wisdom.
The path of the six perfections is the path of all buddhas.
