Break Barrel Air Rifles - Beeman RS2 and Gamo Whisper Nitro

Shooting two older generation Air Rifles, the Beeman RS2 Combo and the Gamo Whisper (Nitro Gas).

The Beeman was my first break barrel rifle - came with a .177 and a .22 barrel along with a cheap 3x9 scope. The rifle is capable of 1,000 fps for .177 and 830 fps for .22 caliber pellets. I was able to take quite a few squirrels at my old place. I tried the .177, but moved to the .22 for two reasons, first - ethical kill, 1 shot stops with the .22. Second, the .177 would (with the right ammo) break the sound barrier and make that unmistakable CRACK sound ... Not good for backyard shooting!!!

I upgraded in 2011 to the then new Gamo Whisper with Nitro Piston Noise Dampener. Yes, it is a bit quieter, a little better quality, and it ran great. At my new home, it cleared up our rabbit infestation - taking quite a few with one shot stops. The upgraded power plant gives it the ability to shoot 960 fps/PBA pellet; 740 fps/14-grain pellet. It's not a toy (but then, neither is the Beeman!).

Now, I'm looking at a new Gamo model :)
