HH Janananda Gosvami Maharaj joined ISKCON in London and was initiated by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada in 1972.
Maharaj has served in various places around the world including, UK and Europe, Africa, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and America. Maharaj is well known for his ecstatic kirtans, harinam and book distribution in the line of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Maharaj’s quick wit, humility and loving personal nature is very uplifting and inspires us all to take shelter of the Lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna.

Over the last several years Maharaj has been based in France and has been focusing his energy there. Much of his attention has been on New Mayapur in France, which is the only remaining ISKCON property in Europe where Srila Prabhupada stayed. Within New Mayapur reside Their Divine Lordships, Sri Sri Krishna Balaram who are the only Krishna Balaram deities personally installed by Srila Prabhupada outside of Vrindavan. As such, New Mayapur is a very important project in ISKCON and Maharaj has been working tirelessly to serve Srila Prabhupada in France by helping to inspire the ongoing book distribution and preaching efforts there.
