The Ericsson Report goes further beyond the bombshell exposé by the ICIJ in 2022 which exposed Ericsson paid millions of dollars in bribery payments to the terrorist group the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or "ISIS" with a pattern of corrupt practices spanning 17 years across 14 countries.

Ericsson plead guilty in 2019 for a scheme to make and improperly record tens of millions of dollars in improper payments around the world resulting in Ericsson signing a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) that included a criminal penalty of over $520 million and approximately $540 million paid to the U.S. Securities and Exchange commission in a related matter.

The United States' most important telecommunications contract, the Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) which is responsible for operating the National Portability Administration Center (NPAC) which is currently controlled by a wholly owned Ericsson subsidiary named Iconectiv. Iconectiv completed the service transition from predecessor Neustar, Inc. on May 29th 2018 which operated the NPAC for 18 years.
