Our Lord also asked St Margaret Mary that images of His Sacred Heart be made for people to venerate, to keep in their homes, and to carry with them at all times. She herself made Sacred Heart badges and always wore one devoutly.
In 1720, in the French city of Marseilles, a great outbreak of bubonic plague ended after the local bishop consecrated the city to the Sacred Heart and provided thousands of Sacred Heart badges for the faithful.
Blessed Pope Pius IX approved the devotional wearing of the badge and granted an indulgence to the wearer who also prayed daily the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.
The Sacred Heart badge is a sign of our cooperation with Christ and His work of Redemption, our willingness to keep His commandments, and in union with His sufferings, to carry patiently the crosses of our daily life.

Novena to the Sacred Heart
O Jesus, Who Hast Said: “Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.” Behold, I knock, I seek, and I ask that my prayer be granted. (Mention you petition.)

Pray one Our Father, Hail Mary & Glory Be.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.

O Jesus, Who Hast Said: “All that you ask of the Father in My Name, He will grant you.” Behold, in Thy Name, I ask the Father that my prayer be granted. (Mention your petition.)

Pray one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.
O Jesus, Who Hast Said: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.” Behold, encouraged by Thy infallible words, I ask that my prayers be granted. (Repeat your petition again.)

Pray one, Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.

O Sacred Heart Of Jesus, for Whom one thing alone is impossible, namely, not to have compassion on those who are afflicted; have pity on us poor, miserable sinners, and grant us the grace which we ask of Thee through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Thine and our tender Mother.

Pray the Hail, Holy Queen.

St Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

Prayer of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Most loving Jesus, when I consider your tender heart and see it full of mercy and tenderness toward sinners, my own heart is filled with joy and confidence that I shall be so kindly welcomed by You. Unfortunately, how many times have I sinned! But now, with Peter and with Magdalene, I weep for my sins and detest them because they offend You, infinite Goodness. Mercifully grant me pardon for them all; and let me die rather than offend You again; at least let me live only to love You in return.
