The Woman King: Sony made the wrong movie and falsified history

The Woman King, the brainchild Maria Bello and Dana Stevens, is in theaters. Sony no doubt hoped they would have another Black Panther at their hands, but it was not to be. Instead, it’s opening weekend is marred by the hastag #BoycottWomanKing trending – and the ones driving that hastag weren’t the usual suspects who took issue with Disney’s The Little Mermaid, but members of the Black Community itself.
In this editorial, @AndreEinherjar will begin with exploring what is so bad about The Woman King, the measures the studio have gone through to protect it, and what lessons should be learned from this.
