Oak Hill Church of Christ 2-12-23 Message: "Breaking the Cycle"

Oak Hill Church of Christ preaching minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on the true value of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.

The word "sacrifice" is often used in the context of giving something up. Often, the something we're giving up is really something for our own good. However, the sacrifice that God intends is much different.

God had ordained in the Old Testament that sacrifices of animals were to be offered as a substitution for the sins of the people. These animals were offered up to cleanse sin, but must be repeated for new sins.

Jesus offered a way to a perfect sacrifice. As the Son of God, his substitutionary death on the Cross was one with eternal value. God delivered His only Son so that he could redeem the world from its sin, that all who believed might find hope in that sacrifice that need never be offered again.

Unlike imperfect humanity, perfect God provided a sacrifice that did not need to be repeated, and he did so of His own desire. Man did not force God's hand, but God demonstrated His love toward us that he would mend the bridge between Himself and His creation.

God's love for you is so great that He sent His Son Jesus for you, a sacrifice to return you to unity with the Father. If you seek that reconciliation, come to Christ and follow his teachings, and learn what true loving sacrifice is.
