An overview of conducting rifle zeroing per the most current U.S. Army standards, TC 3-22.9.

Notes:
1. Holding the magazine well. Rack grade M16/M4-series lack float tubes so any contact on the handguard will influence point of impact, especially when using an optic. Holding at the mag well is sub-optimal, however, an inconsistent zero is much worse. Learn why:

2. The aiming reticle and/or any offset (on the target or via initial rear sight elevation setting) will depend on the rifle/carbine used. Consult your TM to learn what it is for you.
