The Riddle Song

15
This is a very old English folk song that has been recorded in some version or another by by Doc Watson, Josh White, Sam Cooke, Joan Baez and many others. It is said to have originated in the 15th century. Like all folk songs, over the years, it has undergone the "folk process," meaning the lyrics have changed as the song has been handed down from generation to generation and migrated from one geographic location to the other. This recording is based on the Doc Watson version.
Lead guitar, vocal harmony, editing: Ron Snyder
Lead vocals, rhythm guitar: Tim Pike
