After watching the Presidential debate US residents may be considering other options! Today we look at how to move to Canada with a business investment and enjoy all the benefits of Canada - including free health care!

So why move to Canada? Not one Canadian bank has ever failed and our banks have been voted most stable on the planet. Real estate is very reasonable in many places, check out this mansion in Quebec, your own acreage, indoor swimming pool, currently on the market for $499k Canadian, about $374,000 US at current exchange rates and you own a mansion. Its also more laid back here and here's our most recent demic map vs the USA......150k cases vs 7.4 million.

Should we not have a citizen swap system - Canadians who love Trump, and there's a lot of them! conservatives, could trade places with liberals, one for one, and swap between countries. People who dislike the liberals, move to the USA, people who hate Trump, swap with someone in Canada. We match their social status doctor for doctor, waiter for waiter. Think of how many happy, patriotic people we would have.

Unfortunately we don't have that program but we do have the PNP program, which is the provincial nomination program, as well as various "streams" as they are called, there are over 100 different streams including skilled worker options for carpenters, welders , plumbers, lawyers, and semi skilled immigration pilots for truck drivers and child care experts and others. We'll look at the investment stream today. This program allows people from any country around the world, to move to Canada via buying or starting a business. So basically buy a business - welcome to Canada.

We have 10 provinces here, similar to states in the USA, and each province has it's own requirements to qualify for the program. Unlike the E-2 Visa in the USA, residents of any country are eligible to apply, provided you meet the minimum requirements. Also unlike the E-2 program, which is a temporary investment visa, the PNP program can lead to you becoming a full Canadian citizen, with all the benefits including good old universal health care. Which you might need because you'll be freezing most of the time.

So how much do you need to invest to qualify for the Canadian investor stream? Each province has different investment amounts. British Columbia, over on the west coast you'll need a minimum of $200,000 CDN, that's about 150-160K USD depending on the exchange rate. You'll need a minimum net worth of $600,000 CDN, that is all your assets minus your liabilities, you need at least 3 years experience as a business owner or four as a senior manager, and you must create at least one job, or three if you have a manager.

Certain provinces, such as New Brunswick over on the East Coast do have minimum language proficiency requirements, so you will need to pass the English test before you are approved. Newfoundland requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. The lowest investment is currently Nova Scotia at $150,000 CDN or about $120K USD, but you still need to have a net worth of $600K

Ontario, the most populous province where both Toronto and Ottawa are located, you'll need to invest $600,000 in the GTA, $200,000 outside of GTA or $200,000 in ICT/Digital Communications business anywhere.
Net Worth $800,000 inside GTA, $400,000 outside of GTA. GTA is the greater Toronto area. There are a many businesses that don't qualify like gas Stations - scrap metal also not allowed, pawnbrokers, laundromats, B&B's, full list is over on our PNP page Ill put that link at the end and above.

How long does it take? First you need to receive your nomination by submitting an expression of interest to the province which you would like to apply. If you are approved, then you can begin the process. Approval can take 8-18 months to complete, but once approved, you are a Canadian, you'll drink milk in bags, put maple syrup on everything, never worry about pennies again as we don't have them, eat as many ketchup chips as your heart desires, you'll have to refer to the the letter Z as zed, and be super duper polite at all times. Franchise businesses are eligible for the Canadian PNP in most cases: https://www.franchise.city/canada-pnp
