NOTES FOR: Basics of Deliverance and Healing (Part 1 of 4) -
What is it, who performs it, and who is it for?

Deliverance is the casting out of demons from a person. This can lead to the healing of mental and physical problems.
Healing is the ending of a mental or physical problem. Sometimes healing happens by casting out demons and sometimes healing happens by simply commanding the physical problem to leave/heal because it isn’t demonically influenced.

DELIVERANCE AND HEALING ARE PART OF A DISCIPLE’S JOB
Jesus was determined to make disciples who walked in power from the very beginning. And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: Mark 3:13-15 NKJV
Jesus gave us our orders before he went to be with God the Father. His orders are known as the “Great Commission.” Here it is… Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV Among the things Jesus commanded them to do were casting out demons and healing the sick. Jesus says this again in a little more detail in Mark 16:15-20 NKJV… And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

When we are born again we are spiritual babies. We have just received the Holy Spirit and now we have to let Him teach us. We can use our intellectual ability to gain knowledge of the Word, but spiritual DEPTH is revealed by the Holy Spirit. Through this depth, the knowledge of God will be revealed.
Deliverance and healing are the deeper things of God. Such things are taught by the Holy Spirit. The details on how to do these things are not listed in the bible. The reason is we need to first be led by the Holy Spirit. We must then let HIM teach us such things. If we attend a church that doesn’t believe in such things, that church is hindering the moving of the Holy Spirit. “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves…having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timonthy 3:1-5)
Jesus made the mold for what a disciple is. We must follow HIS mold, not the weak, powerless mold this world had made!

DELIVERANCE AND HEALING IS FOR WHO?
Jesus casted out demons and healed those who came to Him or had an intercessor. They were ALL Jesus followers!
Deliverance and healing is still for Jesus’ followers. They are gifts from God for His children. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us." But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." And she said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Matthew 15:22-28 NKJV
