VCV Eurorack Ambient | 3x DivKid's OCHD, Cs-L, Troika, Chronoblob 2, Plaits, Stages & Clouds

I recently treated myself to three OCHD modules using the free VCV Rack software, since I don't own an @instruo + @DivKid OCHD yet and wanted more than one. I was amazed by the amount of modulation that was unleashed. With over 20 patch cables attached, the setup may seem a bit messy, but the result is truly mind-blowing. The more OCHD modules you have, the better.

I started by patching the Instruo Troika to generate a melodic sound reminiscent of a guitar with plenty of delay. I added two Chronoblobs 2, both synchronized to different clocks, to create polyrhythms in the delay. I then sent this voice to two different mixer channels: one dry and one with a lot of delay. I used OCHD to modulate their presence in the mix, allowing for asynchronous fade-ins and fade-outs.

I added a simple bass melody using the Instruo Cs-L, but the patching process was a bit complex, so I won't go into detail here. The Plaits module fed into Clouds adds some hard panned stereo texture while another oscillator creates a sound reminiscent of ocean waves, slightly panned.

To add more chaos and unpredictability to the modulation CV signals, I ended up modulating two OCHDs with the smooth outputs of two different random modules. It's hard to explain everything I did in this brief description, but hopefully this gives you an idea of what I achieved.
