Dead Space is the Best action based Lovecraftian game ever made, hands down. But what makes it the best & Scariest?
Yes, there are cosmic terrors & monsters that will scare the hell out of you. But there is more to it.
Lovecraftian horror starts with an idea. An idea that grows & grows until it's so out of control that it becomes a part of reality itself. It is such a strong force that it begins to shape reality. Things that are not there are all of a sudden being seen & if you do not see it, you are not a believer & you become an enemy of the thought manifest. These thoughts spread & grow from person to person & begging to have a worshipful presence that people willingly fight for. It becomes so big & violently out of control that in the end the only ones left are the believers.
Here is the kicker, even the believers end themselves because in the end All this Cosmic Horror is about Death & Madness.
This is exactly what happens in DEAD SPACE. We see the scars of a Space Madness as lunacy grows & overtakes it's crew.
This video is a scenic walk through the ship, Ishimura as Isaak witnesses the outcome of the Effects of The Marker. Little does he know he is slowly being influenced by The Marker as we watch him descend into Madness.
