BIO AND PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Dr. Seth Cowand is the Director of Digital Forensics at Veterans Lab Services, Inc. (VLS) in Linthicum, Maryland. VLS is a combat service-disabled veteran own small business with expertise in electronic detection, digital forensics, and medical lab services. Dr. Cowand is an industry recognized expert in digital forensics and cyber security. He has spent the last 20+ years in the cyber security, law enforcement, and digital forensics domains. He earned a Ph.D in Computer and Information Security, a Masters Degree in Infrastructure Assurance, and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Dr. Cowand holds many industry certifications including the Digital Forensics Certified Practitioner (DFCP) and Certified Computer Examiner (CCE). Dr. Cowand remains active in the local, state, and federal law enforcement domains where he works with and consults on topics of digital forensics and electronic detection K9s that track down predators and insider threats. Finally, Dr. Cowand is an adjunct faculty member at University of Maryland-Global Campus (UMGC) where he teaches Mobile Forensics and Digital Forensic Analysis and Application courses to the new generation of digital forensic practitioners.
