Canada: Special citizenship ceremony to mark Black History Month – February 10, 2023

In Ottawa, Sean Fraser (federal minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship) marks Black History Month by welcoming 21 new Canadians at a special citizenship ceremony. He is joined by Greg Fergus (MP for Hull–Aylmer, Que.), Mona Fortier (MP for Ottawa–Vanier, Ont.), Monique Manatch (knowledge keeper for the Algonquins of Barriere Lake), Marlayah McLeod (anthem singer), Maya Spoken (artist and founder of the poetry showcase Tell ‘Em Girl), Fatou Toure (clerk of the ceremony), and Rochelle Ivri (citizenship judge).
