Hillary S Webb is a cultural anthropologist, author, and mixed-media storyteller with a focus on theater anthropology and cross-cultural perspectives on human consciousness. Having received her undergraduate degree in journalism from New York University, she went on to earn an MA in consciousness studies from Goddard College (where she now teaches), and a PhD in existential psychology from Saybrook University. She is an author of four nonfiction books, including the recently published, The Friendliest Place in the Universe: Love, Laughter, and Stand-Up Comedy in Berlin (An Anthropological Memoir).

When not lurking around the stand-up comedy clubs of Europe, she lives in Maine with her husband, photographer Carl Austin Hyatt.
