With critical road infrastructure damaged making it difficult to reach the earthquake zone, ships are also being used to bring in supplies into the area and help take the wounded and homeless to other parts of the country.

These two videos show the TCG Iskenderun, which is a Turkish-made military transport roll-on-roll-off ferry which is seen transporting 98 injured people rescued from the earthquake zone and taking them from Iskenderun to Mersin.

The ship is joined by a frigate, two Corvettes and two patrol ships also assigned to provide assistance to Iskenderun in Hatay Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

The province was heavily damaged by powerful earthquakes and subsequent floods and fires.

Turkey's disaster agency has said that 12,873 people are dead and 62,937 injured in the country.

The total death toll in Turkey and Syria now exceeds 15,865 people, with the latest figures indicating more than 2,992 people dead in Syria.
