"do Your Own Research" has become a rallying cry for an enormous chunk of the internet. From home brew detectives, to digital sleuths, conspiracies and beyond, the idea of finding information yourself has never been more popular.

This video is an extremely basic overview of the first steps I take to do research for myself, excluding some major factors like cultivating sources, reaching out for comments, or running specific bits of information by experts. On the most fundamental level, this is my process for looking at a story, and seeing it there is something there worth digging up.
