“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg has asked a provocative question: should white people start dying at the hands of police so that something finally changes? In this episode, I examine the racial component as well as several cases where police brutality occurred with white victims but was largely ignored by major media.

When Whoopi says what she says and the media reports it the way they do, it looks like racial bias, like profiling, like there is intent. But if we look at the data, it tells a different story. And if we are going to have the conversation and subsequent action regarding police reform, we have to start from a position of honesty. Whoopi, with her position and voice at “The View,” asks a question that she knows is provocative but she may or may not know is intellectually dishonest. And if she doesn’t know, why is no one on the staff of “The View” bringing this to her attention?
