My Fathers first time trying the ported 288XP

Went out playing in the woods, dad had just ran his old 2100 a bit to see if the repair shop had got the carb squared away so I figured I’d introduce him to a pet project of mine….

288XP
Meteor top end
Base gasket delete
ALL of the compression
Decomp delete
Massive transfer porting
Still running a single port aftermarket jungle muffler on it in this video…

Time thru the cut was substantially faster than his stock 2100 but they are built more for torque than all out speed, I’d hang a 36” on a 2100 with confidence in BC interior soft woods but the 288XP seems to be happy running a Tsumura 30” with full comp Stihl chain… don’t mind the bark pinch, if you ever ran 3/8” chain in western red cedar you’ll understand.
