2002 State of the Union Address
In his first State of the Union address, President George W. Bush emphasized programs to defeat terrorism at home and abroad, revive the economy, and protect American soil. Among the programs he advocated were increased neighborhood and international volunteerism, extended unemployment for the newly jobless, prescription drug coverage for Medicare patients, tax cuts for all Americans, and a strong energy policy to create new jobs.
