Hawksmoor by Peter Ackroyd

A BBC Radio adaptation by Nick Fisher of Peter Ackroyd's 1985 mystery novel of parallel investigations into killings across two centuries.

Nicholas Dyer is an architect in 18th century London. He works for Sir Christopher Wren building churches for the glory of God...but part of the construction includes secret human sacrifice, and in 1711 he's building another new church...

Nicholas Hawkmoor is a police detective in 20th century London. He's currently investigating murders in which the murderer has left no clues whatsoever, not even fingerprints...murders that seem to mirror sacrificial murders from 300 years before...

While Dyer attempts to conceal his Satanic practices from his superior, simultaneously Hawkmoor's investigations are being oppressed not only by the weight of the investigations but also by unseen forces from the past...
