20230207 Parenting My Way Thru the Grey Mist of Depression

As I try to navigate through my depression, one of the best aids I have is my children. Fatherhood is my joy, my happiness, my salvation.

I hear all too many parents celebrating the return of the school year, or the end of Christmas holidays. I don't understand that, since being a father to those wonderful boys is the greatest joy in my life.

My doctor once pointed out to me that suicide rates are much lower amongst married fathers, and significantly higher amongst divorced fathers, estranged from their children.

My kids have literally kept me alive, saved my life on two separate occasions.

Why, in God's name, would I be happy to be rid of them? To see less of them?
