The Homestead Act of 1862 was passed by a Republican Congress and signed into law by Abraham Lincoln. It granted 160 acres of free land to any head of household who agreed to farm it for 5 years. Here, we go to the Holzworth Homestead in Rocky Mountain National Park. Very interesting place that takes you back to life at the turn of the century. Always learning!
