Rangers' Journey to Self-Sufficiency: Expert Analysis on Douglas Park's Impact and Future Investment
Rangers are finally in a position where they are self-sufficient and no longer reliant on external investment from the likes of Douglas Park.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rangers’ business model.
Park, who comfortably survived Dave King’s recent bid to oust him as chairman at Ibrox, has routinely pumped money into Rangers in the form of loans since he bought into the club in 2015.
The 72-year-old’s Parks of Hamilton Holdings company filed its accounts with Companies House last Friday (23 December), revealing an operating profit of £44.6m.
But Maguire does not anticipate that any of that wealth will be funnelled into Rangers any time soon.

“The major investors in Rangers have said for some time they want the club to be self-sufficient,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Although Park has been successful in respect of his own business, I think he has probably reached a point where he believes Rangers are in a position where they can stand on their own two feet.

“The only exception would be if there is a critical need for cash, either in the form of loans or more share issues.

“They have seen what has happened at another club in Glasgow where the owner has not had to put the money in.

“Desmond has not had to push either cash or loans into the club for many years. They will be wanting to replicate that model.“
