My Self Talk | The way we speak to ourselves
Acknowledging our negative inner talk is the first and most important step in making it better. Negative inner talk can affect us in many ways, from feeling overwhelmed, to increasing our sense of shame and guilt. It’s important to recognize that this negativity is not representative of who we are, and it does not serve our best interests.

The key to acknowledging your negative inner talk starts with being aware of what kind of self-talk you’re engaging in every day. Pay attention to the words that come into your head when you think about yourself or a particular situation: Are they empowering or disempowering? Once you have become aware of any negative self-talk going on inside your head, consider reframing those thoughts into positive language that builds rather than detracts from your emotional wellbeing.
