Drawing attention this legislative session is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Reform, SB 2484.

The Mississippi Independent Pharmacists Association (MIPA) has brought legislation to the Legislature this year that dramatically changes the relationship between PBMs, insurance providers, and consumers.

The entire business community and many state entities have expressed concerns with the reform because it will increase health insurance premiums in most cases.

Robert Dozier the Executive Director of the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association comes on Gallo to break down the bill and how it will affect Mississippians...

"Yes or no. This will or will not raise the cost of medicine prescriptions for consumers?" - Gallo

"A very good question, I'm thank you for answering that. Again, what we're saying is this is going to reduce the cost of drugs, probably by about 5%. Overall, this is going to reduce the overall drugs. For consumers out there and the media groups." - Dozier

Later in the interview, Dozier said, "For these, these business owners out here, if they still want to use the AWP methodology, they're doing themselves a disservice. Nadac is cost that the pharmacies pay for that particular drug and then the $11.29. That is how much it costs the pharmacies out there to dispense that drug so the pharmacies. The state of Mississippi. They're showing the world their cost."
