House Speaker Kevin McCarthy delivers an address on the debt ceiling

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said, “cuts to Medicare and Social Security, they are off the table,” during his remarks from capitol Hill on raising the debt limit. The speaker said Republicans are fighting for “responsible, debt limit increase.” Speaker McCarthy stressed that Republicans would continue to negotiate and they “must commit to finding common ground on a responsible debt limit increase.”
