The battle at Stalingrad was the greatest military and political event of the Second World War. This victory turned out to be the beginning of fundamental change in the course of the war to the USSR and the whole anti-Fascist coalition. From the banks of the Volga the Red Army began its advance which culminated in the unconditional surrender of Hitler's Germany.
