Violent Drug Cartels are taking over Mexico's Avocado Industry! 🔫💀🥑

CTV's W5 goes deep into the Narco heartland to interview a commander with one of Mexico's most brutal cartels (CJNG) about their incursions into the country's avocado industry.

What many people don't realize is Mexican cartels have grown so large and so powerful that only a fraction of their money now comes from illegal drugs. Today, most of the Cartel's industries of operation are legal business, ruled behind the scenes with the iron fist of the cartels. Tequila, Avocados and other produce, Oil, Car Manufacturing, the ports of entry, are all cartel controlled.

In the early 80's the US and Europe could have decapitated the cartels by legalizing drugs. Today, it's not that simple. The War on Drugs has empowered the cartels and given them a monopoly over the drug industry, with wealth and power so far reaching their reach has spider-webbed into nearly every industry in Mexico, legal or not. Mexico is so dependent on Cartel money and control that the country would collapse if the cartels are eradicated.
