This Crab is Making Bubbles #shorts

While out tidepooling in California, I came across a crab making bubbles. This on occasion can be caused by distress or feeling threatened, but the majority of the time the crab is perfectly fine. Since a crabs gills need to be wet in order to function, when it exhales out of water the carbon dioxide exiting the gills combine with the water on the exterior, creating the bubbles. Crabs can also deliberately blow bubbles in order to help protect against dehydration.
