The huge Sylvensteinsee reservoir was artificially created near the border with Austria between 1954 and 1959. It was located in the Isar Delta and was originally intended to provide electricity to local residents. For this purpose, a dam 44 meters high and a dam about 180 meters long were created here.

The reservoir lies in the middle of high mountains and is surrounded by dense forest, so the views here are very picturesque. It is especially good to observe the surrounding beauty while driving along the bridge connecting the two shores of the lake.
