Crunchyroll Accused of Being BIGOTS for Casting WHITE ACTRESS

The recent controversy over the casting of the main characters in "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury" by anime streaming service Crunchyroll has caused outrage among Western voice actors. On February 1st, Crunchyroll announced that Jill Harris would play Suletta Mercury and Natalie Van Sistine would play Miorine Rembran, both characters from the series. However, some fans who believed Suletta to be Middle Eastern/North African and queer, based on her darker complexion and a scene in the first episode, felt that the casting was a white- and straight-washing of her character. Despite the fact that Suletta's dark skin is a result of being raised on Mercury near the sun and the scene was a rejection of an arranged marriage, some voice actors in the industry expressed their disappointment and frustration with the casting. Nazeeh H. Tarsha, a fellow voice actor in the series, expressed disappointment in a statement on the issue.
