‘Blue Dog’ Drama Splits Conservative Democrats

The Blue Dog Coalition, a centrist Democratic group in Congress, has experienced an internal blow-up and lost nearly half of its members. Seven of the 15 members expected to join the Blue Dogs this year, including Reps. Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill, are leaving after a disagreement over a potential name change for the moderate bloc. The Blue Dogs have now shrunk to just seven members, their smallest roster in nearly three decades. The breakaway Blue Dogs demanded a rebranding as the Common Sense Coalition, which they believed would help shed the group's reputation as a socially moderate Southern "boys' club." The name change was rejected after a secret-ballot vote, and several members left the group shortly after.

The Blue Dog Caucus which has traditionally been sort of like the most conservative caucus in the Democrats has fractured. And supposedly it's only about the name thing. There are 15 Congressional members who are scheduled to join the blue dog caucus. And The blue dog caucus used to be powerful. it is not nearly as powerful as it was. 15 members is still a substantial number of members. you know like the squad was like five people. Now I think we're up to like eight or nine. so we're getting there. but even at 15 there's only so much they could do. And by nature of being a blue dog they're also getting a lot of corporate money. They're also protected by The Establishment in many respects. So their power probably is even greater than their sheer numbers. However, a couple of blue dogs including representative Abigail Spanberger from Virginia and Mikey Cheryl she is from New Jersey and apparently one other somebody had mentioned what is Wiley nickel from North Carolina. She was going to enter the blue dogs. They had gotten into a fight with the rest of the blue dogs because they wanted to re-brand the blue dogs as the common sense coalition. not to be confused with the No Labels Coalition. Or what does it get things done? Problem solving. Oh the problem solvers. Now the problem solvers are a coalition of Democrats and Republicans. Bipartisan. And they're bipartisan. And so they deal with problems like what happens if you can't get a speaker and the entire Congress oh wait no I'm sorry they didn't solve that problem. That would have been the most obvious problem for them to solve. The problem they solved was how do we maintain the interests of corporations and big money in a way that makes it sound like we're actually dealing with problems. They do a Manchin's job but just in the house. Yeah exactly. And solve the problem of democracy.
