Biden says US military shot down suspected Chinese spy balloon - global news by STARMOON

U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters on Saturday afternoon that he had given the order to officials to shoot down the suspected Chinese spy balloon earlier this week and that the military successfully "took it down" earlier in the day.

He said that national security leaders had decided the best time for the operation was when it got over water, where fighter jets shot it down off the Carolina coast after it had traveled over sensitive military sites across North America.

According to Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin in a statement, the military had determined that taking it down over land would pose an undue risk to people on the ground due to the size and weight of the balloon.
