Republican Rhetoric Is Literally Killing Their Voters
The Republican Party's denial of the severity of COVID-19 is literally killing their supporters. COVID deaths were higher in red counties vs blue counties. This could be a reason why there was no 'red wave' in 2022.

Yeah I mean you know for those that are vaccinated again we see that the protection is great. And that we're probably going to move into it now is that when you look at the politics and certainly when we talk about the so-called red wave that was supposed to happen in November one of the things and again I don't want to be flippant either but that kindling that you referred to was kind of the fire that covid was supposed to bring or you know could potentially bring I doubt that it will. because largely the people who were going to die from it again without being flipping half past and if you look at who those people are they are people who vote in red counties right? or versus blue counties. And so this so-called you know one of the things that you know people who understand and talk about this one of the things that we're talking about is that there could have been a significant change had had people been vaccinated and had people who live in red counties been immunized at the rates of people who lived in blue counties. And I think that's something that means. We'll pop this up right here. We'll pop this up right here. and then and then maybe we'll go back to poverty although you know I think one of the things is we know that poverty is a comorbidity in this country because you're less likely to have access to a hospital. You're less likely to have the ability even to get vaccinated for that matter but even if you did you're less likely to be able to take time off from work. You're less likely to have daycare. You're less likely to be separated from somebody who's sick. I mean on and on and on and on. It's just like we can see this not just in the context of Covid. We can see this across Society. But we said we should say that but let's go back to this red-blue divide because it is pretty fascinating what this slide is showing is that the New York Times in 2020 in April 2020 or early I'm not sorry 2021 basically went around and just said who's getting vaccinated early and who's not. And what they showed was this clear Trend that Counties have voted for Biden versus counties that voted for Trump. and that was kind of the breakdown category they used. And what they found was that it was very clear in this graph that counties that voted for Trump were significantly less likely to get the vaccine. I remember this is April 2021. The vaccine is new, it's a new mRNA vaccine. You know people waiting to see how people do so let's see what happens. So six months later I think the Kaiser Family Foundation and that's the next slide did a repeat of that study and what they found was that again you could see that in the Delta you have 53 percent of counties that voted blue versus 40 counties that voted red.
