An old tree on Bowen Island did not kill me, only because I was driving slowly

A pack of cars was leaving the Bowen Island ferry, mine among them. We crossed Snug Cove, the island’s small town, which is also its biggest commercial centre. Everybody knew where to go. Some vehicles turned right behind a big tree, others made a sharp left turn before the creek, and the rest headed in the direction of Tunstall Bay. Four vehicles were behind me, but one by one they disappeared in my rear-view mirror. Finally, I stopped at the bay’s parking lot, with a cute red house nearby. I knew immediately that breathtaking scenery was only a few meters away. After walking a dead-end road, I was rewarded. Not just one, but three waterfalls created by heavy rain showed off their power in a natural spectacle. That was not all. Old cedar tree trunks, some of them brought there by the ocean, created an exhibition promoting the durability and natural art of these giants. Crossing the wild river and walking on the pier were also great experiences—not to mention the fact that my car was almost hit by a moss-covered tree.
