Jiles Perry "J.P." Richardson Jr., widely known as The Big Bopper, was an American singer and radio disc jockey renowned for his chart-topping songs like "Chantilly Lace", "Running Bear" and "White Lightning", In 1959, On February 3, tragedy struck when Richardson, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens were killed alongside their pilot Roger Peterson in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa.
