Wat Pak Nam Jolo is located on the banks of the Bang Pakong River in the Chachoengsao Province. This temple was built in the late Ayutthaya period, about 200 years ago. The exact age and who originally constructed it is unknown.

The name of the temple, Jolo, comes from the former Thai King Taksin's plan to attack the Burmese soldiers. He used the royal barge as a lure to pull the Burmese into an ambush that he set. The Burmese believed that the Thai king was on the boat and were defeated by Taksin’s soldiers that were hiding in the jungle. This tactic was called Chao Lo, but later distorted and the sound became Jo Lo. The temple is also located in Pak Nam area. So it became Wat Pak Nam Jolo.

Wat Pak Nam Jolo is very famous for its Golden Ubosot. The only one in Thailand that is painted gold completely both inside and outside the Ubosot. The gold looks amazing, especially with the setting sun reflecting off the buildings.

If you are in the area I would recommend a visit to see this temple.
