Pyometra has been identified in a Chihuahua dog aged 5; avoid food for two to three days. Suddenly, yellow pus began to trickle from the vagina and licked at her behind. It was then determined that the heat spell began about 2-3 months ago. The minor 4-mm uterine rupture could not be seen during surgery because it was not radio-dense, even though the right uterine horn was adhered to the small intestines, indicating the horn had ruptured previously. Palpation revealed mild abdominal pain. Despite lethargy and anorexia for the previous 3 days, there was no pyrexia at the time of the assessment. After receiving antibiotics, the dog had spaying surgery at Toa Payoh Vet. She fully healed.
