Georgia police officer Jacob Kersey resigned after he was told by superiors that he could not share his personal religious views on social media.

On Jan. 2, Kersey posted a 20-word message about his view of marriage on Facebook. “God designed marriage. Marriage refers to Christ and the church,” he wrote, paraphrasing the Apostle Paul’s teaching in the Book of Ephesians. “That’s why there is no such thing as homosexual marriage.”

Kersey was asked by his superiors to delete the post, but when he refused he was placed on administrative leave. He ultimately made the choice to resign because he did not want to be forced to choose between freely expressing his convictions and keeping his job.

Kersey joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to share his story and why he felt so convicted to stand for his religious beliefs.
