Suddenly He Turned

He came out toward the army
But even as he ran
The Lord was present in His mind
And helped him for a plan
The other came in arrogance
His danger not discerned
When all at once the shepherd stopped
And suddenly he turned.

He smote the giant with a sling
And slew him with a sword
He stood in faith for all to see
The power of the Lord

So if you drive your fears ahead
Be weary lest they turn
And catch you coming unawares
And find you unconcerned
There's devastation in surprise
When meant to do you harm
So be prepared if fear should turn
Be in the Spirit armed

Our victory's in Jesus
If we're prepared to fight
If we're prepared to face our dread
And face the devil's might

The same for those who flee the world
Our faith should make us strong
And if we choose to face our fears
They cannot stand for long
So stand in faith and fortitude
Be smart, be strong, be stern
Goliath had his victory won
