While on his way home from work, a reckless driver passed FCSO Master Deputy Stogdon on US1 and then crashed into the back of another vehicle. Master Deputy Stogdon activated the emergency lights and siren on his patrol vehicle to signal for the vehicles to pull off onto the shoulder.

MD Stogdon approached the reckless vehicle and noticed that the driver was unresponsive behind the wheel. MD Stogdon gained access to the vehicle by breaching a window and began to provide medical aid to the male, who appeared to be showing signs of a possible overdose.

MD Stogdon administered Narcan and began CPR. Shortly later, a deputy arrived and assisted with CPR. St. John’s County Fire/EMS arrived, continued CPR, and administered a second dose of Narcan. The subject later regained consciousness and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. Further investigation is being handled.

"Whether on or off duty, our deputies are always ready to help someone in need," said Sheriff Rick Staly. "Thankfully, Master Deputy Stogdon could help this man live another day to hopefully get the help he needs."
