Full Moon Rising

During the full moon phase the Moon and the Sun are completely opposite of each other at 180 degrees on the same linear path with the Earth in between. So logically you have to ask yourself how does the Sun illuminates the Moon as it rises at night when the Earth which is four times as large as the Moon is in its path? And why is the surface of the Earth not illuminated also? Or a better question is why is the Earth which is four times as large as the Moon not blocking the Moon? These are legitimate questions no one seems to ask!

Also some of the lunar phases don’t match the Sun’s vantage point as often the Moon will be illuminated from the top while the Sun has already set.
