Pro-democracy protesters gathered outside the United Nations (UN) offices in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, February 1 as the military administration in Myanmar announced the extension of a state of emergency for six months. A silent strike was conducted in Myanmar to mark the second anniversary of the military coup which toppled Aung San Suu Kyi’s government, with businesses closing throughout the country on Wednesday, according to the Bangkok Post.
