The first settlers on Mars will be facing a lot of challenges. One of the toughest challenges is that they need much more advanced space suits than we have now. Mars is frequently exposed to lethal cosmic radiation. The atmosphere and magnetosphere shield us from these cosmic rays here on Earth. On Mars, the first settlers have to spend quite a bit of time and the suits they wear should not only prevent them from cosmic radiation but it should also be comfortable.
