Blood Bowl Lore: Bright Crusaders | Pride and Penitence

Blood Bowl is a miniatures board game created by Jervis Johnson for the British games company Games Workshop as a parody of American football.[1] The game was first released in 1986 and has been re-released in new editions since. Blood Bowl is set in an alternate version of the Warhammer Fantasy setting, populated by traditional fantasy elements such as human warriors, goblins, dwarves, elves, orcs and trolls.

In late 2016, Games Workshop released a new version of the game – the first in 22 years.[2] It featured a double sided board and new plastic miniatures.[3]

In November 2020, Games Workshop released a new version of the game, titled Blood Bowl Second Season Edition, which included miniatures for two teams and referees, a board (pitch), templates and the rule book. The rule book was also available separately, both physically and digitally. Cyanide Studio confirmed that the next videogame adaptation, Blood Bowl 3, would use the new ruleset.[4]

In 2441, after spending years as a Priestess of Nuffle from the Order of the Unchallenged Call, Ingrid the Pious founded the Bright Crusaders team and spent the next eight years getting them ready for professional competition. To be recruited to her team, Ingrid the Pious regularly referenced the Thirty-Two Sacred Plays, the Great Book of Amorical Football, and the Holy Guidelines of the Sixth Appendix[1].

The Crusaders are made up of devotees of Nuffle, and are therefore against all forms of dirty plays, fouls, and underhanded tricks in order to win a game

It's the Purity Cup final, and the purest team in the league are… losing? To low-down, cheating rats? Can the team convince their star player Gerhardt the Penitent that winning is the most important thing?
